Primary Purpose Summary
Our fast-growing, technologically driven manufacturing company is seeking Cell Leads to work 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule rotation. The Cell Team Lead manages material flow on the equipment, monitors operation, makes operating adjustments (as required), and verifies product quality and equipment operating conditions to ensure conformance to specifications. They are responsible for following proper safety procedures and recommending changes to enhance equipment performance and safety. This position must participate in and adhere to all applicable plant certifications, including but not limited to ISO 9001:2000, SQF, and BRC.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies.
- Promote core values and leadership principles.
- Arrive 15 minutes before shift start to attend the daily pre-shift meeting.
- Learn new machine operations efficiently.
- Diagnose and repair minor automation issues promptly.
- Maintain consistent operation of work cells using mechanical knowledge.
- Perform product quality inspections and identify acceptable/unacceptable products per customer requirements.
- Understand visual inspection criteria, mold maps, and supplemental information.
- Visually inspect products, including color matching and challenge parts.
- Suggest and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with technicians, supervisors, and operators to ensure quality and resolve issues.
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining equipment and work cells, ensuring compliance with operational, SQF, and safety standards.
- Replenish, stock, and organize packaging supplies.
- Plan and execute work cell activities such as color changes, conversions, and setup.
- Verify product requirements and label accuracy.
- Cover breaks as needed and monitor machine operations for quality and quantity.
- Inspect, test, and reject raw materials and intermediates per specifications.
- Support QA team with defect awareness and inspection methods.
- Bag and tag retained products.
- Operate emergency stops and follow lockout/tagout procedures when necessary.
- Create production labels accurately and sequentially.
- Read and verify production orders and labels against product/batch info.
- Collaborate with Lead Trainer Coordinator for skill development.
- Be flexible to cover off-shift work or training shifts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and count.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for 12 hours.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and clear communication.
- Team-oriented and self-motivated.
- Proficient in data entry and departmental software.
- Experience as an operator at an expert level.
- Knowledge of warehouse/production systems like SAP and MES.
- Leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
- Conflict resolution and reasoning skills.
- Knowledge of the Food and Beverage industry.
- Understanding of quality principles, SPC, and packaging applications.
Shift: 6:45 pm to 7 am, 2-2-3 schedule.
