Job summary

General Motors in Missouri is seeking a senior manufacturing leader with deep General Assembly experience to drive the development, integration, and execution of manufacturing systems for new vehicle programs. You will coordinate cross-functional teams and deliver PFES, timing milestones, and cost-focused strategies.

The role requires 8+ years in General Assembly manufacturing, travel as needed, and a proven ability to lead complex vehicle program integration from development through launch.

Qualifications

  • Lead development and execution of General Assembly manufacturing systems for new vehicle programs.

  • Present strategies, risks, and status to leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
  • Lead root cause investigations.
  • Remove barriers and resolve escalated program issues.

Job description

  • Lead the development, integration, and execution of General Assembly manufacturing systems for new vehicle programs from pre-DSI through Contract Sign Off (CSO)
  • Develop and communicate program-specific manufacturing strategies aligned with product, process, timing, and investment objectives
  • Develop and maintain the Plan for Every Site (PFES)
  • Evaluate Manufacturing Planning Studies and Manufacturing Studies with data-driven recommendations
  • Establish manufacturing direction and processing concepts for assigned vehicle programs
  • Drive solutions balancing investment, piece cost, labor, floor space, quality, safety, and launch timing
  • Develop lean investment targets and total cost optimization strategies
  • Evaluate and implement advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, and vision systems
  • Lead program timing development and establish critical integration milestones
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, automation, controls, paint, processing, execution, installation, and launch teams
  • Partner across organizations to develop integrated vehicle manufacturing solutions
  • Remove organizational barriers and resolve escalated program issues
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between General Assembly and associated functional organizations
  • Lead root cause investigations for complex manufacturing and integration issues
  • Drive continuous improvement focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction
  • Present manufacturing strategies, recommendations, risks, and program status to leadership
  • Facilitate alignment among cross-functional teams, program leadership, and manufacturing stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • General Assembly manufacturing experience spanning process development, equipment design, integration, installation, program execution, and vehicle launch
  • Experience working within a manufacturing plant environment
  • Expertise in General Assembly manufacturing processes and systems
  • Experience leading complex vehicle program integration from development through launch
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, automation, tooling, and assembly processes
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and drive issue resolution across organizations
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills for highly complex and ambiguous challenges
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to present technical and business recommendations to all leadership levels
  • Experience managing multiple high-priority assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP)
  • Ability to travel as required
  • 8+ years of General Assembly manufacturing experience preferred
  • Manufacturing launch experience supporting new vehicle programs preferred
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies, automation strategies, and vision systems preferred
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related discipline preferred

  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis

Demonstrates expertise in General Assembly manufacturing processes, advanced manufacturing technologies, and program execution for new vehicle launches. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and present strategic recommendations to leadership.
