Job summary

NexTech Solutions is seeking an entry-level engineer to design mechanical elevator system layouts for engineer-to-order products. You will produce 2D and 3D drawings from drawings, specs, survey data, and controlled documents, ensuring manufacturability and compliance.

Responsibilities include creating submittals, interpreting project requirements, collaborating with the team, and supporting optimization of engineering processes while working onsite in Memphis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 1–3 years of engineering or design experience.
  • Basic understanding of engineering and mechanical design principles.
  • Basic knowledge of physics and motion dynamics of elevator components.
  • Knowledge of drafting concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret project requirements, building plans, rough product designs, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to develop workable designs considering manufacturing and assembly requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical instructions and work to a production schedule.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Memphis.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally less than 10% of the time.
  • Engineering or design experience within architectural, structural, or mechanical design environments.
  • Experience using AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
  • Basic experience with 3D modeling software.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical elevator system layouts using established product designs and engineering standards.
  • Interpret building plans, project specifications, survey data, and mechanical and electrical requirements.
  • Create hydraulic and traction system submittal drawings for customer approval.
  • Produce 2D and 3D layout drawings that account for manufacturability, assembly requirements, and potential rework.
  • Complete layout submittals according to daily production schedules and established performance expectations.
  • Review engineering instructions and completed designs for accuracy, quality, and compliance with established specifications.
  • Collaborate with team members to solve design problems and improve quality, efficiency, and engineering processes.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, cross-functional initiatives, and special projects.

Job description

This entry-level engineering role is responsible for creating mechanical system layouts for engineer-to-order elevator products. The engineer will use building drawings, project specifications, survey data, and controlled engineering documents to produce accurate customer submittal drawings using 2D and 3D drafting software.
