SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a Manufacturing Systems Engineer (MES / Factory Automation) to support the implementation, integration, and deployment of manufacturing execution and factory automation systems. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building systems from the ground up and working at the intersection of manufacturing, automation, information systems, and semiconductor operations. Rather than focusing on software development, this position emphasizes system configuration, integration, testing, deployment, and operational readiness. The selected candidate will work closely with manufacturing, automation, quality, IT, and equipment engineering teams to help establish a highly automated factory environment capable of supporting advanced semiconductor manufacturing at scale. If you're energized by complex manufacturing environments, factory startups, and large-scale automation initiatives, this is a unique chance to make a lasting impact.

Responsibilities:
  • Configure, test, implement, and support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and related factory applications.
  • Integrate MES with factory automation, CIM/EAP, quality, logistics, and enterprise systems.
  • Support system interfaces and data flows, including lot tracking, WIP management, process routing, equipment integration, dispatching, and recipe management.
  • Maintain manufacturing master data, process flows, and equipment configurations, and material definitions.
  • Participate in factory system testing activities, including SIT, UAT, commissioning, go-live, and ramp-up support.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing system issues affecting production, automation workflows, and data integrity.
  • Partner with equipment suppliers, software vendors, manufacturing teams, and global stakeholders to deploy best-in-class factory systems.
  • Participate in requirements gathering, system design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop documentation, training materials, and operating procedures to support long-term factory success.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience supporting manufacturing systems, factory automation, industrial software, MES, or semiconductor operations.
  • Experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), CIM/EAP/RMS platforms, factory automation systems, material handling and logistics systems, or quality systems such as SPC and FDC.
  • Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing environments, factory operations, or production systems.
  • Experience supporting critical production systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, quality, IT, and supplier organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
NICE-TO-HAVE
  • Semiconductor wafer fab, assembly, packaging, or test manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supporting Applied Materials or other commercial MES/manufacturing software platforms.
  • Experience with factory startup, expansion, system rollout, or large-scale manufacturing transformation projects.
  • Familiarity with equipment connectivity and automation integration.
  • Understanding of automated material handling systems (AMHS), overhead transport (OHT), or factory logistics.
  • Exposure to advanced analytics, AI, machine learning, or smart manufacturing initiatives.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out:
  • Join a rare greenfield semiconductor manufacturing project and help build factory systems from the ground up.
  • Play a key role in the ramp-up of one of Arizona's newest advanced semiconductor facilities.
  • Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge MES, automation, and smart manufacturing technologies.
  • Work directly with leading semiconductor equipment suppliers and global engineering teams.
  • Opportunity for international training and exposure to Amkor's global manufacturing network.
  • High-visibility role with significant opportunities for professional growth as the Arizona site expands.
