The Manufacturing Systems Analyst (Program Analyst) gathers, reviews and analyzes customers’ requirements. The candidate should be able to convert user requirements into a system functional specification. He or She will work closely with consultants, vendors, and VDIS (Vallourec Digital & Information Systems) peers to develop solutions based upon functional requirements. The candidate will create design documents; as well as configure and create custom programs within the PSI Metals application framework. The position is a major contributor to increasing the Company’s competitive position within the OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods) marketplace by enabling continuous improvement initiatives.

Your Role at a Glance
  • Provide system maintenance services to ensure application availability
  • Analyze existing system(s), propose modification, and implement system improvements, including integration between systems
  • Consult with users to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output data requirements
  • Analyze, define, and document requirements, including data, Business Intelligence workflows, logical processes, hardware and operating system environments, system interfaces, internal and external system health checks, controls, and outputs
  • Use high level programming languages to create system enhancements using specification documentation and special programming techniques necessary to achieve the most effective program
  • Coordinate and organize development, testing and implementation plans of vendor supported systems; consult and direct application vendors for support and upgrades
  • Monitor performance of programs after implementation, including after-hours support
  • Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections
  • Train personnel in end‑user departments in any specific procedures necessary to effectively utilize systems and/or data
  • Lead or actively participate in cross‑functional teams to complete and execute above responsibilities
What Sets You Apart
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer information systems with 3+ years post graduate experience or 5 years equivalent experience
  • Solid understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) systems
  • Ability to grasp integration methods with plant automation devices and systems
  • Excellent relational database design and management skills, including ability to manage clustered environments and write complex SQL stored procedures (Oracle PL/SQL preferred)
  • Operating experience within a LINUX and/or Windows platform
  • Information technology systems design and structured programming including object‑oriented programming concepts
  • High level computer programming languages such as MS Visual Studio .NET (VB.NET, C#), PL/SQL, ASP, HTML
  • Ability to create custom reports using Crystal Reports or similar products
  • Familiar with network and database communications
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Willingness and ability to travel to support deployments within North America
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to provide after‑hours support
