Job summary

Software Placement Group is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Support Engineer in Manitowoc, WI. The role partners with Production, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance, and Engineering to drive process improvements on a state-of-the-art production floor.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering and 3+ years in manufacturing engineering within assembly operations, plus strong communication and self-motivation to work across all levels of

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering is required.
• 3+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in an assembly operation.
• Self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

• Solve hands-on manufacturing problems to improve day-to-day performance of operations, working closely with Production, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
• Apply strong process improvement skills to help meet KPIs.
• Develop practical solutions and ensure improvements are implemented and sustained, guiding teams from problem identification through execution and follow-up.
• Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor, working directly with operators, supervisors, and department leadership to resolve day-to-day process issues.
• Serve as an escalation resource for manufacturing problems requiring deeper process analysis and technical problem solving beyond initial Production or Maintenance response.
• Coordinate efforts to plan, design, develop, and validate manufacturing processes and process improvements.
• Improve processes and eliminate waste in key constraint areas.
• Improve safety, quality, productivity, and delivery in assigned areas.
• Develop and drive metrics in conjunction with Production teams.

Overview

A growing, privately held manufacturer with a long operating history in the architectural wood door industry is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Support Engineer for one of its state-of-the-art production facilities. This role partners closely with Production, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to drive process improvement, and reports to the Automation Engineering Manager. What you'll do

Required qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering
• 3+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in an assembly operation
• Self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in wood products manufacturing preferred
• Prior project management experience, start to finish, is highly desirable
• Prior capital project experience is also helpful
