Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is hiring a Manufacturing Support Engineer in Goleta, CA to backstop manufacturing engineers and accelerate process improvements across production lines including dewar packaging and cooler integration.

You will help process returned hardware, analyze data, and assist with new product introductions while maintaining regulatory compliance and travel standard work instructions. The role requires initiative and adaptable multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Attention to Detail – required defining explicit process assembly instructions for the manufacture of sophisticated IR camera systems.
  • Communication Skills (Oral, Listening & Written) - required to communicate effectively with Assembly and Test personnel to both develop and optimize the necessary camera assembly process.
  • Continuous Learning – required to stay abreast of new electronic and mechanical assembly techniques and processes defined both by internal design and external customer requirements.
  • Decision Making & Problem Solving – required to respond to ever changing productions requirements effectively and efficiently, quality issues, and process demands.
  • Flexibility – required to handle the often-multi-tasked manufacturing environment where multiple hats (Engineer, Inspector, Doc Control, Tool Designer, Assembler, etc) on a daily basis.
  • Initiative – required to take the lead on all aspects of the job requirements, with minimal supervision and maximum efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Process returned hardware for complaint evaluation, failure analysis and product disposition.
  • Review data and provide support based on data analysis.
  • Support introduction and development of new products and improvement of existing process/hardware/equipment, developing or executing experiments for the Process/Manufacturing engineers.
  • Supports continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S).
  • Support Tool Design & implementation.
  • Support on-going (daily) production and development products and processes as required.
  • Review and update assembly instructions and travelers meeting all regulatory and internal standards.
  • Works with production personnel to assist with training and techniques.
  • Works to ensure all production protocols are in-place and followed.
  • Support required documentation for travelers and computer WIP tracking.
  • Initiates disposition and rework of non-conforming product or materials.
  • Report on manufacturing metrics.
  • Supports other engineering tasks for development of new products, implementation of new production lines, re-activation of production on line down scenarios, e.g., hands on hardware processing (rework or repair).
  • Flexibility for overtime is required.

Supports process and recovery of RMAs cycle time, process of excursion, quality inspections, and experimental executions. Support all production lines including dewar packaging and cooler integration.
