Manufacturing Supervisor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally, where applicable, in relation to this position.
• Responsible for adherence to all safety rules to accomplish safety objectives. Ensures all team members are properly trained concerning general and department specific safety rules, including safe working habits, proper machine operation and guarding, and maintenance. Responsible for routine housekeeping and safety inspections throughout the plant.
• Responsible for conducting orientation-training programs for team members. Self-development needs to focus on personnel policy, coaching and counseling skills, continuous improvement techniques and other pertinent improvement techniques. Team member training program should emphasize development and maintenance of job orientation checklist, mentor assignments, training retention, and attitude measurements.
• Responsible for supporting the programs and policies established for the operation. Responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures that support the following: customer satisfaction, quality, cost reduction, cycle time reduction, TPM, waste reduction, and material yield.
• Possesses excellent human relations and team building skills. Serves as a facilitator helping managers and team members work as a team within and between shifts. Consistent and fair treatment of others. To ensure fair treatment, personal involvement in specific cases may be needed along with regular counseling and training sessions with all managers. Recognition of achievement, which fosters continuous improvement, is required. Absenteeism must be kept within acceptable limits. Evaluations must be completed on time. Teaches and promotes team building techniques which create an environment conducive to continual improvement.
• Maintains proper manning, production flow, and efficient, effective labor utilization. Instructs and develops subordinates to readily identify and take corrective measures concerning inefficiencies in all aspects of the production process.
• Maintains facilities in “like new” condition through inspection, TPM, and team member involvement. Ensures compliance with a thorough audit program.
• Works with the Management, Manufacturing team, and other stakeholders to identify projects and teams that support the Quality Management System. Provides support and direction to teams actively pursuing projects.
• Assist Human Resources through participation in the interviewing process. Serves as a mentor to successfully chosen team members. Evaluates performance and implements development plans for team members.
• Manages team members. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations’ policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing and resolving issues.
• Manages all shipping, receiving, budgets via freight charges and cost analysis to achieve SEC objectives.

Education/Experience:
A Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Engineering, Business or a technical field from an accreted college or university (preferred but not required) and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An in-depth knowledge of Schindler elevator systems, the ability to interpret supplier drawings and how different components will fit and work together to meet Schindler expectations.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical/financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common
inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to shop floor employees, top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables where no standardization exists. Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and blueprints for materials and specifications.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint, and other software. SAP experience preferred but not required.

The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Most locations are at ambient room temperatures with typical office environment lighting and office equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
