Job summary

Horizon Manufacturing Group is seeking aStaff Accountant to join our Finance team in a hands-on role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will manage general ledger activities, run journal entries, and perform detailed reconciliations while ensuring accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of accounting experience, manufacturing knowledge, and proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Desktop.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience required.
• Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Experience with payroll tax filings and compliance; proficiency in Excel and accounting software; QuickBooks Desktop preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting activities: general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Manage Positive Pay processes and banking transactions.
• Process vendor payments, monitor outstanding balances, and assist with customer collections.
• Prepare and file Wisconsin WT-6 withholding reports and quarterly Form 941 tax returns.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Support manufacturing accounting, including inventory reconciliations and cost reporting.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
• Serve as backup for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable during absences.
• Maintain cross-training in AP/AR processes to provide coverage when needed.
