Job summary

GE HealthCare in Warrensville Heights, OH is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the machining and assembly processes. You will plan and execute department operations with autonomy guided by policy, focusing on process improvement and meeting quality, cost, and schedule targets.

In this role you will apply lean manufacturing principles, supervise related staff, and collaborate with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 6+ years of equivalent experience in related fields.
  • Strong expertise in tight-tolerance machining and CNC programming.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, standard work) and waste reduction.
  • Experience working within regulated Quality Management Systems and CAPA processes.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Execute manufacturing engineering tasks focused on tactical processes and overall productivity.
  • Lead small projects with limited risk and resources, guiding team consensus.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to optimize multi-axis machining and process controls.
  • Advise on tooling optimization, fixture design, and process development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to meet end-to-end quality targets.

Job Description Summary

Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing engineering tasks that do not require 4 year degree. Primarily tactical responsibilities. This does not include general administrative work.
  • Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s))
  • Strong expertise in tight-tolerance machining, CNC programming, fixturing, turning, milling and grinding, tooling optimization, and process development.
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, including tool wear, heat management, chip formation, and process controls.
  • Proven success improving manufacturing processes in a multi-axis machining environment.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, standard work, and waste reduction.
  • Experience working within regulated Quality Management Systems, including NC and CAPA processes.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience machining refractory metals such as tungsten or molybdenum.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering leadership roles.
  • Working knowledge of SPC, Cp/Cpk analysis, and process validation methodologies.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher.
  • Experience implementing new technologies, automation, or advanced tooling strategies.
  • Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to build credibility through technical expertise, responsiveness, and professional communication.
