Modineer Company in Niles, MI seeks a Sr. Accountant to support the Controller in delivering accurate financial statements and managing fixed assets, inventory, and cost accounting initiatives.

The role involves month-end close, journal entries, asset depreciation, reconciliations, cost rolls, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve processes and reporting for the CFO and Corporate Controller.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with emphasis in Accounting.
• Coursework or experience in costing is recommended.
• Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting standards.
• Ability to apply accounting principles to data.
• Strong Excel skills and data analysis capabilities.
• Experience reconciling complex accounts and reserves.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal skills and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Aid in month-end closing and prepare necessary journal entries.
• Analyze inventory valuation and prepare reconciliations and roll forward.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation using asset software.
• Prepare monthly general journal entries and CIP reports.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain capital leases in Lease Query.
• Perform standard cost rolls on new parts and annual cost roll.
• Assist in implementing and testing new processes and reporting.
• Analyze cost accounting data to support management decisions.
• Prepare weekly inventory and monthly sales reports.
• Assist with physical inventories and audit schedules.
• Support CFO and Controller with ad hoc tasks.
