Job summary

Elanco is seeking a Summer 2027 Engineering Intern to join the Technical Services Manufacturing Sciences (TSMS) Lab at the Elanco Technology Center in Indianapolis, IN. You will work on practical projects to reduce analytical variability or implement new lab methods, with exposure to diverse subject matter and cross-functional teams.

Internship runs May 17 through August 6, 2027, offering salary between $20 and $40 per hour depending on major and year.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Biology or Chemistry or Chemical Engineering major.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint; willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Understand the Animal Health Manufacturing process and document using GMP guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process/Quality Control improvements.
• Learn about fermentation, product recovery, finishing, or quality control.
• Study design improvement processes.

Your Role: Manufacturing Scientist/Technical Services Intern – Elanco Technology Center (Summer 2027)

As a Summer 2027 Engineering Intern with Elanco Animal Health, you will be part of the Technical Services Manufacturing Sciences (TSMS) Lab team at our Elanco Technology Center (ETC), to deliver a practical solution to reducing analytical variability, a manufacturing technical project, or implementation of new lab methods. Interns will have exposure to many career paths and diverse subject matter experts as many projects have network-wide impact.

Your Responsibilities:

• Understand the Animal Health Manufacturing process, document using GMP guidelines, and understand the importance of the Quality Unit
• Work within cross-functional teams to implement process or Quality Control lab improvements
• Learn about fermentation, product recovery, product finishing, or quality control
• Study design improvement processes

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

• Education: Currently enrolled in a Biology (Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or other related) or Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering major
• Top Skills: Experience in Microsoft Suites and a willingness to learn.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Must be able to work exceptionally well independently and with minimal supervision
• Previous laboratory experience
