We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and oversee all quality assurance and quality control functions within a manufacturing and fabrication environment. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement in product quality, inspection processes, and operational performance.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in quality systems, and experience managing audits, inspections, certifications, and quality personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all daily quality assurance and quality control activities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Quality Control personnel.
- Administer and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Coordinate internal and external audits and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and customer requirements.
- Oversee material certifications, testing records, and traceability documentation.
- Manage welding procedures, procedure qualification records, and welder qualification programs.
- Review and maintain quality documentation, inspection reports, and corrective action records.
- Monitor quality performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Investigate nonconforming products and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Oversee nondestructive examination (NDE) activities, including Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Radiographic Testing (RT).
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.
- Prepare and present quality reports to leadership.
- Manage departmental budgets and quality-related operating expenses.
- Work with customers, suppliers, and third-party vendors to address quality-related issues.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or Quality Management within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership or management experience.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes, quality standards, and inspection requirements.
- Experience with nondestructive testing and inspection methods.
- Understanding of manufacturing, fabrication, and quality management principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Experience with welding processes such as GMAW, SMAW, and SAW.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Level II or higher certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Radiographic Testing (RT).
- Experience leading quality audits and certification programs.
- Background in metal fabrication, structural steel, heavy manufacturing, or industrial production environments.
