Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $78,870 - $103,191. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as a Manufacturing Quality Engineer Level II!

Are you passionate about Quality Assurance? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our US QA department. As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer Level II, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

The Quality Assurance organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping our internal customers, which include S&C leaders and team members, deliver superior quality to our customers. Quality planning, inspection, audit, quality information, quality improvement consulting, and quality communications are examples of the kind of services the organization provides.

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is a recognized expert in manufacturing quality, driving strategic quality initiatives across the organization. This role focuses on resolving complex issues, implementing best practices, and influencing cross-functional teams to achieve high levels of quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Quality Support: Lead organization-wide initiatives to improve manufacturing quality processes, ensuring a direct positive impact on key quality KPIs in operations.
  2. Complex Problem Solving: Resolve complex manufacturing quality issues by identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
  3. Customer Escape Containment: Drive customer escape containment and resolution processes by implementing robust corrective actions, collaborating with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to resolve issues, minimize recurrence, and improve customer satisfaction.
  4. Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Reduction: Identify and reduce the cost of poor quality (COPQ), including coordinating production stop and stop-ship activities, performing root cause analysis, and implementing solutions to enhance overall production quality.
  5. Documentation Review: Ensure accuracy in prints and acceptance criteria by conducting detailed reviews, addressing defects, and managing disposition and deviation processes to uphold quality standards.
  6. Advanced Quality Tools Implementation: Deploy advanced quality methodologies to improve manufacturing outcomes. Support operations leadership in understanding and adhering to new practices.
  7. Project Leadership: Manage and oversee large-scale quality improvement projects that span multiple departments.
  8. Quality Support & Collaboration: Provide high-level quality support for operations, working closely with production teams to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvements. Lead the resolution of complex quality issues, utilizing advanced problem-solving tools to identify root causes and implement effective preventative measures.
  9. Metrics & Feedback Utilization: Utilize quality feedback and metrics to identify opportunities for design and process improvements, driving data-driven decision-making across the company.
  10. Mentorship & Team Support: Coach, mentor, and delegate work to other quality engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the quality engineering team.
  11. Industry Trends & Innovation: Proactively monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into the company's approach to quality engineering.
  12. Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and rules.
Additional Functions
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
What you'll Need To Succeed:
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in quality engineering focusing on manufacturing quality within the electrical industry or a related industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Proven track record of leading and successfully completing large-scale quality improvement projects. Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), including ISO 9001.
  • Experience in process analytics with a broad knowledge of quality tools and industry metrics. Six sigma experience preferred.
  • Support RMA/Non-conforming material/Rejects (NMR) activities with interdepartmental coordination.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
  • Strong project management skills, able to lead project teams through ambiguity and changing needs.
  • Organizational and multitasking skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail with an analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish relationships, resolve conflicts, and foster collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening, presentation). Ability to liaise with stakeholders and present compelling information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI.
Preferred
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from ASQ.
Environmental and Hazardous Conditions
  • Occasional work indoors/outdoors in various environments.
  • Infrequent exposure to fumes, dust, chemicals, radiation, vibration, oils, lasers, etc.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, machinery, and energized equipment.
  • Infrequent outdoor weather conditions and working around machinery.
