Product/Process Quality Planning
- Lead APQP activities for new product introductions, including control plans, process flow diagrams, and PFMEA development
- Support internal PPAP readiness and process validation ahead of customer submissions
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs and drive risk mitigation actions at the process level
- Participate in Design/Process Reviews and support DFM/DFA initiatives with engineering
Manufacturing Quality Oversight
- Provide quality engineering support for SMT and automated test operations, including functional test (FCT) and in-circuit test (ICT)
- Apply IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 acceptance criteria for workmanship, soldering, and inspection standards
- Establish and monitor SPC, first article inspections, and in-process quality checks
- Investigate escapes, defects, and yield issues at the line level, partnering with production and process engineering
- Own line-level containment and disposition decisions for nonconforming product
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Lead structured problem-solving using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and other RCA methodologies
- Drive Six Sigma / Lean initiatives to reduce variation, scrap, and rework on the production floor
- Own customer complaint response (8D/CAPA) related to manufacturing escapes, ensuring timely containment and root cause closure
- Track and report manufacturing quality metrics (DPPM, FPY, Cost of Quality, scrap trends)
Systems & Customer Compliance
- Maintain manufacturing quality processes in accordance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 requirements
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements (CSRs) for automotive OEM accounts on the production floor
- Support internal, customer, and third-party audits related to manufacturing processes
- Apply VDA 6.3 process audit methodology to internal manufacturing processes
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical) or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of quality engineering experience in electronics manufacturing (EMS/contract manufacturing or automotive electronics preferred)
- Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 (Certified IPC Trainer/CIT a plus)
- Demonstrated experience with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA 6.3
- Proficient in core tools: APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC
- Strong background in 8D, root cause analysis, and Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred)
- Hands-on experience with SMT processes (reflow, AOI, X-ray, SPI) and automated test (FCT/ICT)
- Comfortable working directly on the production floor with operators, technicians, and process engineers
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and its application to electronics/software quality
- Familiarity with AEC-Q100/AEC-Q200 component qualification standards
- Certified VDA 6.3 Process Auditor
- Experience supporting automotive OEM customer audits and scorecards
