Job summary

HellermannTyton is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions ensuring quality conformance for all incoming systems on the production floor. You will work with multiple plants and departments, guiding 8D processes and maintaining QA/EHS certifications.

The role requires knowledge of AIAG APQP, IATF/ISO standards, QMS familiarity, and strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Quality or Engineering preferred, or equivalent relevant experience/training.
  • CQE certification is a plus.
  • 1-5 years of prior Quality Assurance experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GD&T preferred.
  • SME of 8D approach (5-Why, Ishikawa, etc.).
  • Certified or experience with IATF, ISO standards.
  • Full understanding of AIAG APQP Process.
  • Knowledge of QMS (Automotive, Aerospace, etc.).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, with acceptable driving record and adequate insurance.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally if required.
  • Familiar with PPAP process.
  • Ability to travel overseas if required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with customer expectations regarding quality, timing, and deadlines for complaints.
  • Apply the 8D disciplined problem solving approach and related tools.
  • Direct D4-D8 root cause, corrective and preventative actions for each claim.
  • Lead teams through all phases of an 8D process.
  • Facilitate and approve return of defective products and report findings.
  • Confirm quality conformance of all incoming systems to the production floor.
  • Complete root cause analysis and implement robust corrective actions for internal non-conformances.
  • Escalate complex complaints as needed and communicate across departments.
  • Prepare reports on complaints, including counts, nature, and resolutions.
  • Analyze complaints to identify trends and recurring issues.
  • Dissect data to reveal trends and patterns from multiple viewpoints.
  • Demonstrate leadership and strong computer/document-control skills.
  • Maintain familiarity with HellermannTyton product lines and 8D SME practices.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Title: Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Reports to: Manufacturing Quality Engineering Supervisor

Department: Quality Assurance

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Quality Engineering Supervisor, the Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for conducting root cause analysis of both external and internal quality non-conformances and implementing robust corrective actions. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring quality conformance for all incoming systems to the production floor. This is accomplished by working in a collaborative manner with all necessary plants &/or departments - facilitating claims through all 8 phases of an 8D approach to closure. This will be achieved by maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.

Essential Functions
  • Understand and comply with customer expectations as they relate to quality, timing, and deadlines for complaints.
  • Understand and apply the 8 Disciplined approach problem solving method, and all related tools.
  • Directly responsible for D4-D8 (Root Cause, Corrective and Preventative Actions) for each claim.
  • Lead teams while facilitating claims through all phases of an 8D in a systematic and methodical manner.
  • Facilitate and approve the return of defective products, process for analysis, and report on findings.
  • Confirm quality conformance of all incoming systems to the production floor.
  • Complete root cause analysis and implement robust corrective actions for internal quality non-conformances.
  • Escalate complex complaints or those requiring management intervention.
  • Prepare reports on complaints, including numbers received, nature of complaints and resolutions.
  • Communicate interdepartmentally to resolve complaints and implement robust corrective actions.
  • Analyze complaints to understand the root cause and identify trends and/or recurring problems.
  • Ability to dissect data revealing trends, concerns, patterns, etc. from multiple Vantage points.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Full Understanding and Knowledge of HellermannTyton’s Product Lines.
  • SME of 8D approach.
  • Basic Injection Molding knowledge is preferred but not required.
Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience)
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree (preferably Quality or Engineering related) preferred, or equivalent relevant experience/training
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a plus
  • 1-5 years of prior Quality Assurance experience is preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
