Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners seeks a Manufacturing Quality and Control Engineer to champion quality excellence at our Columbus, Indiana facility. You will lead quality initiatives, eliminate defects, and deliver products that meet customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) is required.
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in automotive.
  • Excellent communication to stakeholders and customers.
  • Experience with GD&T and AIAG Core Tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Management: Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, APQP, and PPAP requirements.
  • Dimensional Engineering: Perform GD&T analysis and use PolyWorks for 3D measurement.
  • Problem Solving: Lead root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) to resolve quality issues.
  • Technical Support: Metrology, SPC, and MSA studies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean and Six Sigma to reduce scrap and variation.
  • Collaboration: Work with manufacturing, tooling, and customers to manage change.

In this highly influential role, you'll be at the forefront of transforming manufacturing processes, eliminating defects, and delivering exceptional products that exceed customer expectations.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in advanced quality methodologies, a hands-on approach to problem solving, and a proven track record of driving sustainable process improvements in a manufacturing environment.

Required Quality Core Competencies:

  • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
  • PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
  • VDA FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)
  • MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis)
  • SPC (Statistical Process Control)

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Management: Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, APQP, and PPAP requirements.
  • Dimensional Engineering: Perform GD&T analysis and use PolyWorks for 3D measurement and part validation.
  • Problem Solving: Lead root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) to resolve internal and external quality issues.
  • Technical Support: Serve as a resource for metrology, SPC, and MSA (Gage R&R) studies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce scrap, rework, and process variation.
  • Collaboration: Work with manufacturing, tooling, and customers to manage change and resolve nonconformities.
  • Mentorship: Coach less experienced team members in quality practices and core tools.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in GD&T, AIAG Core Tools, and metrology software.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with CMM programming or 3D scanning.
  • Knowledge of 6S, welding processes, or Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Proficiency in Minitab or advanced Excel for statistical analysis.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related technical field).

Experience: 2-5 years in manufacturing, preferably in the automotive industry.

Communication: Ability to convey technical data clearly to stakeholders and customers.
