Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferable; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of QA experience.
  • Experience in food production quality assurance preferred; microbiology or chemical lab experience acceptable.
  • Strong mindfulness and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with GMP, SOPs, and quality regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks related to food safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
  • Flexibility to work the specified shift and weekends if required.
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to multi-task in fast paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in Windows-based PC programs.
  • Lab Test Equipment/Maintenance preferred.
  • Some knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety preferred.
  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality checks on incoming raw materials and finished milk products.
  • Perform regular inspections of production processes to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor and document equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address quality-related issues promptly.
  • Evaluate trends from test results and communicate these trends to employees and management.
  • Implement and maintain GMP, SOPs, Food Safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in internal audits and assist with external audits as needed.
  • Record and analyze data and prepare reports on quality metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement and maintain a 6-S rating of an 'A'.
  • Follow-up customer complaints and coordinate with production.
  • Implement quality control processes/testing to meet Safeway standards.
  • Any other project assigned.

WORK LOCATION IS 1115 West Alameda Drive, Tempe, AZ 85282
Role is Part Time
Manager is looking for 1st shift 10 hour shifts. Work days are Sunday, Friday and Saturday 9am - 7pm. Candidate will be off Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thrusday.
Is there a possibility this assignment could be extended? Only if additional coverage is needed.
Is there a possibility this assignment could convert to fulltime? 6 months for now.
What you will be doing
As a Flex Shift Quality Assurance Lab Tech at our milk plant, you'll be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our products. Your duties will include conducting inspections of raw materials, monitoring production processes, and performing various tests to verify compliance with quality standards. You'll also be tasked with documenting findings, reporting any issues, and implementing corrective actions as needed. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will play a crucial role in improving our reputation for delivering top-quality milk products to our customers.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferable. High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum 1 year of QA experience.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance or a similar role in food production is preferred; however candidates with microbology or chemical laboratory experience are acceptable.

  • Implement quality control processes/testing to meet the expectations of Safeway quality standards and ensure that the product(s) are within specification.
  • Any other project assigned.
