Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Process Engineer to support commercialization and start-up of new equipment and processes in our Minnesota facility.

You will partner with operations, RD&I, quality, maintenance and supply chain to drive improvements and ensure design for manufacturability. The role requires a 4-year engineering degree, 3+ years of experience, equipment procurement, project management and knowledge of Lean, SPC and CAD tools.

Qualifications

  • 4-year engineering or technology degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience preferred with mechanical aptitude.
  • Equipment procurement and capital project experience required.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, SPC and process capability.
  • Positive attitude with a desire to build relationships and serve both our internal and external customers.
  • Strong, proactive communicator, effective both 1:1 and in groups.
  • Knowledge of 2D & 3D solid modeling preferred (AutoCad/Inventor).

Responsibilities

  • Support project teams on commercialization and start-up of new equipment and processes.
  • Partner with operations, RD&I, quality, maintenance, and supply chain functions to drive improvements.
  • Interface with design, product engineering, supply chain, and other business partners on the design for manufacturability and process capability of new products or product extensions.
  • Provide informed recommendations regarding the viability of developed design solutions that relate to new or current processes.
  • Participate/facilitate cross‑functional team meetings, kaizens, and Process System Design events.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of DMAIC tools: Process mapping, process capability, C&E Matrix, fishbone diagram, FMEA, MSA, DOE, Control Plans.
  • Develop specifications to procure production equipment and/or complete production lines.
  • Partner with the Safety group to ensure all new or modified processes meet or exceed corporate safety requirements.
  • Create training tools, documents and standard operating procedures for production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability.
  • Introduce new perspectives on existing solutions to continuously improve production and material flow processes.
  • Work independently within areas of responsibility on small projects or in coordination with others over portions of larger projects.
