Swanton Welding & Machining Co. seeks a Manufacturing Project Coordinator – Metal Fabrication to lead project setup through delivery, coordinating with Project Managers, Engineers, Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate multiple metal fabrication projects from job setup through production and delivery.
• Review customer drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to ensure requirements are met.
• Create and maintain project documentation, including travelers, work instructions, drawings, specs, and supporting materials.
• Prepare and update material lists, assist with material takeoffs, and perform calculations.
• Track project progress, milestones, and delivery schedules.
• Facilitate communication between Project Management, Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, customers and vendors.
• Identify and help resolve issues affecting timelines related to materials, drawings, or scheduling.
• Assist with project cost tracking and related analyses.
• Maintain organized project files and records for easy access.
• Support shop personnel by providing information and ensuring work moves efficiently.
• Communicate with customers and vendors regarding routine requirements and status updates.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate multiple custom metal fabrication projects from job setup through production and delivery, supporting Project Managers throughout the process.
• Review and interpret customer drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and met.
• Create and maintain accurate project documentation, including job travelers, work instructions, drawings, specifications, and supporting materials.
• Prepare and update material lists, assist with material takeoffs, and perform project-related calculations as needed.
• Track project progress, including drawings, approvals, materials, outside services, production status, milestones, and delivery schedules.
• Facilitate communication and coordination between Project Management, Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, customers, and vendors.
• Identify and help resolve issues related to materials, drawings, documentation, or scheduling that could impact production timelines.
• Assist with project cost tracking and analysis to support efficient project delivery.
• Maintain organized and accurate project files and records for easy access and reference.
• Support shop personnel by answering questions, obtaining project information, and ensuring work moves efficiently through the shop.
• Communicate with customers and vendors regarding routine project requirements, documentation, and status updates.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, structural steel, machining, industrial construction, or a related technical environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing or fabrication processes and terminology.
• Strong mathematical and technical aptitude.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and changing priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
• Preferred: Experience in custom metal fabrication or welding.
• Preferred: Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD/drawing software.
• Preferred: Experience working with job travelers, work instructions, BOMs/material lists, shop drawings, and production documentation.
• Preferred: Technical school, drafting, engineering technology, manufacturing, welding/fabrication, or related education.
