Position: Project Manager Location: Onsite – Southwest Philadelphia
Comp: Base $60K-110K + Bonus
Our client is a fourth-generation, family-owned metals fabrication company. They specialize in structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and ornamental metalwork, including monumental stairs, decorative railings, and custom sculptures. They work with architects and builders throughout the U.S. They are recognized as a leader in ornamental and structural metal fabrication.
Overview
As part of our team you will help drive projects from approval through fabrication and final delivery. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will play a hands-on role in coordinating the details that keep our projects on schedule and moving forward from shop drawing submittals to production scheduling to job site delivery. This position offers broad exposure to every facet of the structural steel and miscellaneous metals business, with time split between the office, the fabrication shop, and active job sites. Overview of Duties & Responsibilities
- Mechanical and Design Aptitude – general understanding of how things can be built.
- Own your Projects - Complete all tasks in a timely and professional manner.
- Review and understand all project documents (e.g. drawings, specifications, changes, materials, finishes, schedules) and establish and maintain effective communication with customer’s project staff. Identify long lead items.
- Have input with project auto cad detailer in preparation of shop drawings for submission and for shop. Significant design skills are often required to create workable items from Architect’s conceptual drawings & sketches.
- Submit RFIs. Assess design and field conflicts along with required coordination with other trades.
- Field measure items as required.
- Identify and submit change order requests.
- Review customer’s schedule requirements and coordinate, through Operations Manager, with company’s production schedules. Be aware of job events that cause schedule changes, know the reasons for schedule changes, and immediately address the impact of those changes to our production
- Develop and maintain good customer relationships with superintendents, project managers, erectors and other subcontractors’ project managers.
- Split time between office, shop, and field to stay connected to every stage of the process
- Coordinate and manage assigned projects through all phases approvals, shop fabrication, and job site delivery
- Assist in the preparation and submission of shop drawings and related documentation
- Coordinate project details across design, fabrication, and installation teams
- Help maintain and track production schedules to ensure on-time delivery
- Collaborate closely with the Operations Manager and cross-functional teams to keep projects on track
Overview of Desired Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in structural steel & miscellaneous metals industry.
- Minimum 1 year Construction Project Management
- AUTOCAD or SolidWorks (preferred)
- BA/BS (preferred) or equivalent applicable work experience
- College Degree preferred but not required.
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
- Must be able to remain cool under pressure with a professional, constructive and positive attitude.
- Highly organized, be able to multi-task and prioritize.
- Problem-solver with strong math aptitude.
- Must have sufficient level of physical fitness to accomplish field measuring duties.
