Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform simple forming, cutting, or finishing operations per instructions.
  • Conduct visual inspections for cracks, deformities, or coating defects.
  • Assist loading/unloading furnaces or coating processes (galvanizing, plating).
  • Follow lot traceability and labeling procedures for material identification.
  • Maintain safe handling practices for heavy or hot materials.
  • Record basic production data such as quantities and scrap.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations (5S).
  • Escalate equipment issues or defects to higher-level technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Perform basic production tasks supporting the manufacturing of chain, fittings, and related load-bearing components. Follow standardized processes to ensure safe handling of metal materials and consistent product quality. Build foundational skills in metal forming, finishing, and equipment operation.

Essential Job Functions*

  • Operate basic equipment such as presses, cutters, tumblers, or assembly stations.
  • Handle raw materials such as steel bars, wire, or forged components.
  • Perform simple forming, cutting, or finishing operations following work instructions.
  • Conduct visual inspections for obvious defects such as cracks, deformities, or surface issues.
  • Assist in loading/unloading furnaces or coating processes (e.g., galvanizing, plating).
  • Follow lot traceability and labeling procedures for material identification.
  • Maintain safe handling practices for heavy or hot materials.
  • Record basic production data such as quantities and scrap.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations (5S).

Education & Experience

Competencies – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic metal manufacturing processes (cutting, forming, finishing) required to support production of chain and fittings.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions related to load-bearing product manufacturing and traceability.
  • Skill in safely handling raw materials, including steel components with weight or heat exposure risks.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections to identify cracks, bends, or coating defects.
  • Knowledge of safety practices for heavy industrial environments, including PPE and hazard awareness.
  • Ability to maintain accurate production and material traceability records.
  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks consistently while maintaining product quality standards.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Packaging - Material Handler: Self-paced, 8 hr shifts. May be exposed to fumes, loud noises, and extreme temperatures infrequently. Functional near, far and peripheral vision and functional hearing required.

Physical Demands

Packaging - Material Handler: Heavy, lifting up to 85 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 280 lbs.
