Job summary

Sterling Engineering in Wood Dale, IL is seeking an experienced Production Operations Manager to oversee daily manufacturing activities and lead production teams to deliver quality products safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

You will drive operational performance, improve processes, develop employees, and partner with Engineering to support product and process improvements while maintaining quality and OSHA-compliant safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
• Experience in production management within a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with ability to motivate, develop, and manage teams.
• Broad understanding of manufacturing operations and overall business functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily manufacturing activities to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are achieved.
• Coordinate workflow and production priorities while communicating operational performance to senior leadership.
• Identify production constraints and implement solutions to improve throughput and on-time delivery.
• Reduce lead times, work-in-process inventory, scrap, and labor waste through continuous process improvements.
• Partner with Engineering to support product and process improvements and evaluate manufacturing equipment to improve efficiency.
