Job summary

JR Automation Technologies, LLC, a Hitachi Group Company, is looking for a Manufacturing Process Planner in Holland, MI. You will optimize manufacturing operations, balance shop capacity, and support complex automation projects on site.

The role requires 3+ years in planning in a low-volume, high-mix environment, proficiency with ERP/MRP, and the ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T. Applicants with APICS or related certification are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering Technology, Business, or equivalent experience (2 years per year of study).
  • Three+ years of planning and scheduling in a low-volume, high-mix environment.
  • Experience with production planning, capacity management, and manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • APICS, APA, or related planning/scheduling certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review BOMs, engineering drawings, and specifications for completeness and manufacturability.
  • Partner with Supply Chain on make-versus-buy decisions and sourcing strategies.
  • Develop manufacturing plans, routing strategies, and scheduling priorities to maximize efficiency.
  • Determine material requirements and stock sizes to support fabrication and machining.
  • Monitor shop capacity and provide planning recommendations.
  • Schedule work based on machine capabilities and priorities.
  • Coordinate resources for planned and urgent production.
  • Provide visibility into manufacturing constraints and delivery status.
  • Support decisions on in-house vs outsourced manufacturing.
  • Maintain work orders, schedules, and manufacturing data.

How You'll Make an Impact:
  • Review bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure completeness and manufacturability.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to evaluate make-versus-buy decisions and support sourcing strategies.

  • Coordinate resources to support both planned production and urgent customer requirements.
  • Provide visibility into manufacturing constraints, delivery status, and production performance.
  • Support decisions regarding in-house versus outsourced manufacturing activities.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, production schedules, and manufacturing data.
  • Ensure documentation and production information are organized and accessible to shop personnel.
  • Track and communicate on-time delivery performance and key manufacturing metrics.
  • Maintain current machine and fabrication shop dashboards and performance reporting.
What You'll Bring:
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field, OR equivalent experience calculated as two (2) years of relevant work experience for each year of academic study.
  • Three (3) or more years of planning and scheduling experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with production planning, capacity management, and manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • APICS, APA, or related planning/scheduling certification is a plus.
  • Current or prior JR Automation experience, or experience within the automation, custom machinery, or advanced manufacturing industry, is strongly preferred.
