Job summary

ABB is hiring an engineering intern to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing and continuous improvement. You will support data collection, time studies, Kaizen events, and SOP updates while collaborating with engineering and production teams in a hands-on environment.

The role is onsite/hybrid in Selmer, TN, with responsibilities that include designing tools or layouts using CAD software and presenting findings to the engineering group.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
• Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.

Responsibilities

• Assist in analyzing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Support data collection and analysis for time studies, workflow optimization, and root cause investigations.
• Participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
• Help develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement process changes.
• Assist in designing tools, fixtures, or layouts using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Document findings and present recommendations to the engineering team.
