Job summary

AJM Packaging Corporation in the Metropolitan Detroit Area is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team. You will lead projects to optimize paper conversion equipment, improve process flow and boost uptime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires a Mechanical/Industrial Engineering degree, 1–5 years of hands-on experience, proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Project, and familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related experience.
• 1-5 years hands-on manufacturing experience with equipment/machinery improvements (internships count).
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel; familiarity with shop floor systems preferred.
• Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred; knowledge of project management principles.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and on a manufacturing floor; strong problem-solving traits.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute manufacturing, process and machinery projects for optimization and quality at the source.
• Apply Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma and Lean principles, SOPs, and value stream mapping.
• Conduct feasibility studies for paper conversion machinery and related equipment.
• Analyze layouts, processes and methods to boost efficiency, quality and cost reduction.
• Assess equipment reliability with OEE, MTBF and MTBR and lead root cause actions.
• Diagnose equipment issues using CMMS and predictive tools; collaborate with maintenance.
• Develop Critical Process Equipment (CPE) program with site teams.
• Maintain safety and environmental standards; perform additional duties as assigned.
