Job summary

singularity-defense in Gardena, CA is seeking a skilled mechanical engineer to bridge design and manufacturing. You will drive special processes from concept through production ramp and conduct trade-studies to optimize DFM and internal capabilities.

You will create SOLIDWORKS models, lead welds, adhesives, coatings, heat treatments, and assembly processes, set standards for process control and test criteria, and work with CapEx plans to enable a successful product launch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
• 3–10 years of hands-on experience developing manufacturing processes.
• Experience with trade-studies to guide decisions.
• Proficient in 3D CAD; SOLIDWORKS preferred.
• Familiar with welding, fasteners, and special processes.
• Ability to manage large assembly models and drawings.
• Strong GD&T and fundamentals; understand failure modes.
• Experience bringing a complex process into production.

Responsibilities

• Design hardware and develop manufacturing processes for low-cost, high-reliability systems.
• Own bring-up of internal manufacturing processes (welding, fastening, adhesives, coatings, heat treatments, assembly).
• Establish standards for controlling manufacturing processes and test requirements.
• Co-develop product requirements to drive CapEx and make/buy decisions.
• Create detailed models and drawings in SOLIDWORKS.
• Conduct rigorous testing and iteration to ensure reliability across environments.
• Develop processes for high-rate, high-yield production.
• Coordinate with partner teams to operate an in-house manufacturing line.
