Job summary

First Solar Inc. seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to assist in the installation and qualification of systems, troubleshoot day-to-day production issues, and help implement improvements to increase throughput, yield, and product performance.

The role includes supporting pilot-line equipment, moving toward startup and qualification of new processes, and evolving into standard production as part of the MET path.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; plus an associate's degree or 2+ years machine/ mechanic experience.
• Technical experience at First Solar is preferred.
• Must have strong safety mindset and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.
• Able to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing line issues.
• Capable of handling both administrative and technical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Solve day-to-day production, equipment, and process problems.
• Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements.
• Develop methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
• Set up and maintain gauges.
• Ensure all processes run on target per the Process Control Plan.
• Respond to SPC process control alarms and restore control.
• Execute planned process experiments and analyze data.
• Collect data on daily tool performance and product performance.
• Provide training to production associates.
• Develop and update internal documentation (drawings, SOPs, specs).
• Interface with internal teams and suppliers as needed on projects.
• Develop understanding of area processes and support systems.
• Maintain effective communication with production associates and manufacturing engineers.
• Dispositon non-conforming product per established criteria (NCP).
• Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
• Waste materials handling and hazardous waste containment.
