Job summary

First Solar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to assist in the installation and qualification of systems, troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues, and help implement improvements that drive throughput, yield, and product performance.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED with technical experience or an Associate's degree, plus 2+ years of machine or mechanic work and at least one year with First Solar.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associates degree preferred.
• 2+ years machine or mechanic experience.
• One year First Solar technical experience.
• Six months’ experience as Temporary Manufacturing Engineering Technician at First Solar.
• Strong safety mindset and ability to communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Solve day-to-day production, equipment, and process problems.
• Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements.
• Develop methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
• Set up and maintain gauges.
• Ensure processes run on target as per the Process Control Plan.
• Respond to SPC alarms and bring processes back into control.
• Execute planned process experiments and analyze results.
• Collect data on tool performance and product performance.
• Provide training to production associates.
• Update internal docs including drawings and SOPs.
• Interface with internal staff and supplier reps as needed.
• Develop understanding of area processes and support systems.
• Maintain communication with production associates and manufacturing engineers.
• Disposition non-conforming product per criteria (NCP).
• Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping.
• Waste management per designated containers; adhere to waste handling rules.
• Other duties as assigned.
