Job summary

First Solar in Perrysburg, OH is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to assist in installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot day-to-day issues, and drive improvements to throughput, yield, and product performance.

You will work under the Manager- Manufacturing Engineering, perform data collection, contribute to process control plans, train production staff, and ensure safety procedures are followed on the production floor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree in a technical discipline preferred.
• Two or more years of machine or mechanic experience as a primary function.
• One year First Solar technical experience.
• Six months as Temporary Manufacturing Engineering Technician at First Solar.

Responsibilities

• Solves day-to-day production, equipment, and process problems.
• Identifies and implements yield and product performance improvements.
• Develops methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
• Set up and maintains gauges.
• Ensures all processes are running on target as defined by the Process Control Plan.
• Responds to SPC process control alarms, bringing processes back into control.
• Execute planned process experiments, collects and analyzes data, and reports results.
• Collect data relating to daily tool performance and product performance.
• Provide training to production associates.
• Develop and update internal documentation including drawings, SOPs, and process specs.
• Interface with internal associates and supplier reps as required.
• Develop a complete understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems.
• Maintain effective communication with production associates and manufacturing engineers.
• Dispositions non-conforming product per established criteria (NCP).
• Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
• Dispose waste materials in designated containers and manage waste streams.
• Other duties as assigned.
