Job summary

JSP International seeks a hands-on Process Engineer to support our Detroit manufacturing operation. You will design, test, and implement process improvements that raise product quality, boost efficiency, and improve equipment reliability.

Collaborating with production, maintenance, engineering, plant leadership, and customers, you will lead trials, analyze results, and turn successful experiments into standardized practices, including recycling initiatives for production scrap.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Resin production and process performance to improve quality and moldability.
• Plan and conduct manufacturing trials for new products, processing methods, equipment, and technologies; compare results to current and competitive alternatives.
• Use engineering practices, statistical process control, and designed experiments to identify root causes and verify improvements.
• Lead cross-functional teams to resolve extrusion and expansion process issues and document standards.
• Provide technical troubleshooting to production and maintenance, directing corrective actions when needed.
• Maintain and improve plant control systems, programs, operator interfaces, hardware, and software.
• Track key manufacturing and quality measures; report performance to plant leaders and production teams.
• Support equipment design, installation, startup, and contractor coordination for capital and process-improvement projects.
• Develop procedures and training to strengthen process knowledge, Safety, quality, and execution across operations.
• Collaborate with local and global technical teams, vendors, plant leaders, and JSP facilities on high-priority manufacturing challenges.
• Develop recycling solutions for production scrap, evaluate material streams, run trials, define process controls and quality criteria, identify equipment needs, and partner with teams to convert concepts into safe, repeatable practices.
