Responsibilities of Manufacturing Process Engineer:
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to resolve production problems, maximize process reliability, and improve products, efficiency, and reduce costs using knowledge of processes, tooling, and production equipment including work standards, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts.
  • Design and review layouts, drawings, and schedules of processes of parts to be manufactured ensuring manufacturability and ergonomic concerns.
  • Create work instructions for new or changed processes or standards.
  • Process orders before order notification, issue orders, and assign worker picking orders.
  • Update production schedule based on master schedule. Make bar charts and follow up with team leaders and/or supervisors. Record the actual cycle times.
  • Evaluate and make capacity and load charts for changes of the schedule. Update the man hour chart.
  • Input the actual time into each process standard file. Calculate the man hour based on the process standard by each door and each day. Maintenance/improvement of process standard.
Required Qualifications for Manufacturing Process Engineer:
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Agriculture, Chemical Engineering, or related field required.
  • KMM Core Competencies – Accountability, Adaptability, Attendance, Communication, Integrity, Productivity, Quality, Respect, Safety Awareness, and Teamwork.
  • KMM Exempt Competencies – Critical Thinking, Decision Making, Initiative/Self-Motivation, KMM Departmental Functions, Organizational Skills, Planning, Problem Solving, Professionalism, Project Management, and Resourcefulness.
  • Ability to display appropriate proficiency with computers and computer applications including: spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), word processing (e.g., Word), presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint), databases (e.g., Access, contact management software), internet/intranet (e.g., browsers, search engines), special applications, 3D computer modeling software (Solidworks or Catia), 2D CAD software (Autocad), and able to use e-mail effectively.
  • Lean Manufacturing Tools and Technologies – The use of tools, techniques, and processes specifically designed to increase value-added work, eliminate waste, decrease cost, and create a culture of continuous improvement.
