Job description

  • The Manufacturing Process Engineering team performs hands-on problem solving in a collaborative and fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • We are subject matter experts for processes in cleanroom and non-cleanroom environments which focus on radiofrequency (RF) microelectronic component assembly.

  • This hands-on role confronts new projects and challenges every day and requires cross-functional collaboration in both cutting-edge automation and mature production processes.

  • The Engineer develops and implements materials and process improvements to our factory, while providing production support using a variety of analytical techniques, including statistical process control, predictive equipment maintenance, material analysis, and root cause analysis.

  • We perform the evaluation of materials, equipment, and processes (including qualification, acceptance testing, and specification development) and interface with key internal and external suppliers to resolve technical issues.

  • Seeking candidates who are hands-on, enjoy diving deep into technical requirements, proactive, accountable, good communicators, adaptable in a fast-paced environment, experienced in automated manufacturing, and ready to solve unique problems daily.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the RF Radiator, Circulator, and Lids factory in high-volume, high-mix production with on-site responsiveness to equipment, process, material, and product problems.

  • Support assembly processes involving various automated operations including adhesive dispense, adhesive screen print, component placement, automated curing in batch and inline ovens, and optical inspection.

  • Work hand-in-hand with product engineers, quality engineers, reliability engineers, and manufacturing engineers on product manufacturing.

  • Develop and implement materials, processes, process improvements, and production support using established statistical process control techniques, experimental designs, material analysis, mechanical design analysis, and root cause analysis.

  • Ability to spend 8+ hours per day in a clean room environment, following clean room and electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures.

  • Work day shift with a start time between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM. A 9/80 schedule may be available. Flexibility in starting times may be required based on production demand, as this is a high-volume, 24/7 operation.

Requirements:

  • Experience with technical writing, presentations, and communicating with cross-functional teams or experience levels.

  • Hands-on experience with automated machines used within the RF microelectronics industry.

  • Experience identifying key process parameters and implementing process control.

  • Experience navigating technical requirements within military and industry standards and other engineering data packages (i.e., product drawings).

  • Experience in data analysis using statistical methods and software (i.e., Minitab) for process monitoring and control.

  • Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) experience.

  • Manufacturing experience with surface mount technology (SMT), microelectronics, and/or automated assembly equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.

  • Proven track record of project leadership.

  • Technical writing experience for operator instructions, process and/or material qualification reports, equipment vendor statements of work, etc.

  • Experience with technical problem-solving using data-driven methodologies.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with J-STD-001, MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534, AS9100, and IPC standards.

  • Understanding of screen printing, epoxy dispensing, and epoxy curing operations.

  • Hands-on experience with MRSI, Kurtz Ersa, Palomar, Hesse, or other similar equipment.

  • Proven track record of root cause and corrective action (RCCA) project completion.

  • Process development and qualification experience.

Education:

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
