Job summary

Morales Professional is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer in the Indianapolis area to lead design projects from concept to fabrication and testing. You will perform pump, piping, and thermal calculations, create drawings in AutoCAD/Inventor, and coordinate with production and customers.

The role requires a mechanical engineering degree and 5+ years of project design experience, with independent work style and strong communication skills. Travel occasionally as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years designing engineering projects, ideally with custom equipment.
• Hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD, 3D modeling, and Autodesk Inventor.
• Knowledge of pumping, piping, thermal systems, and fluid dynamics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project-management skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication with customers and teams.
• Ability to work independently and with a collaborative team, MS Office skills.
• Valid driver's license and occasional local/overnight travel.

Our client, is a specialized Indianapolis-area manufacturer, is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to lead assigned engineering design projects from concept through fabrication, testing, and completion. This role combines mechanical design, process calculations, project coordination, and direct customer interaction in an engineered-to-order equipment environment.

What You’ll Do as a Manufacturing Process Engineer:

• Support the design, planning, construction, and commissioning of equipment to ensure performance requirements are achieved.
• Lead design and drawing reviews, maintain project schedules, and communicate timelines to internal and external stakeholders.
• Complete engineering calculations involving pumping and piping systems, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
• Create and revise piping, mechanical, and equipment drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• Ensure shop drawings, bills of materials, and engineering documentation are complete and accurate for each project.
• Serve as the engineering liaison to production, resolving manufacturing and design issues as they arise.
• Partner with engineering and production teams to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, performance, serviceability, and value.
• Communicate directly with customers regarding technical designs, project requirements, and engineering questions.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• At least five years of experience in engineering project design, ideally involving custom equipment or process systems.
• Hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD, 3D modeling, and Autodesk Inventor, supported by strong drafting fundamentals.
• Knowledge of pumping, piping, thermal systems, fluid dynamics, and industrial manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and project-management capabilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work professionally with customers, production teams, leadership, and outside partners.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative engineering and manufacturing team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal database and documentation systems.
• Valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and availability for occasional local and overnight travel.
