Job summary

EverStaff is seeking an experienced Manufacturing and Process Engineer to collaborate with Production and Maintenance teams to boost manufacturing operations. You will provide engineering support for equipment performance, downtime, preventive actions, and quality issues, analyzing problems, root causes, and implementing corrective measures.

You will lead continuous improvement projects, document work instructions, support Lean initiatives, 5S, TPM, and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering with at least three years of manufacturing experience.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and production operations.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, methodologies, quality tools, and quality systems.
• Proficiency with CAD and other technical technologies used to accomplish objectives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels.
• Willingness to acquire new knowledge and apply it to improve efficiency and quality.
• Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and methodologies.

Job description

Our client is looking for an experienced Manufacturing and Process Engineer to partner with Production and Maintenance teams in identifying opportunities to enhance manufacturing operations. This individual will be responsible for providing engineering and technical support related to equipment performance, machine downtime, preventive actions, and quality issues. The role will involve analyzing operational problems, identifying root causes, developing practical solutions, and implementing corrective measures designed to improve overall manufacturing efficiency, reliability, safety, and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess current operating conditions and work-center performance to identify opportunities and challenges. Partner with Maintenance and Manufacturing personnel to develop and execute engineering-driven continuous improvement projects from the initial concept through final implementation.
• Work collaboratively with manufacturing personnel to develop, document, and maintain detailed work instructions that promote consistency and standardization throughout production processes.
• Lead and participate in USW Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen events, A3 problem-solving activities, and TPM programs.
• Serve as an engineering resource across the full USW manufacturing operation, providing technical guidance and support related to productivity, employee safety, product quality, and 5S workplace organization.
• Establish technical and operational requirements for new manufacturing equipment. Perform return-on-investment calculations and net payback analyses, review machine qualification contracts and associated terms, and assess prospective equipment manufacturers and outside service providers. This includes evaluating contractors and vendors supporting electrical, HVAC, plumbing, data networking, structural engineering, industrial rigging, crane, and floor trenching requirements.
• Partner directly with customers, vendors, internal Sales representatives, and Manufacturing teams to investigate and resolve quality-related issues. Utilize root cause analysis to identify underlying problems and develop, implement, and monitor appropriate corrective actions.
• Create, update, and distribute CAD layouts depicting current equipment configurations and proposed equipment relocations throughout manufacturing facilities and related support areas.
• Work with Production teams to anticipate potential equipment downtime and scheduling conflicts. Coordinate the planning and execution of machine repairs, equipment upgrades, and new installations to minimize disruption and ensure work is completed efficiently and systematically.
• Provide specialized technical knowledge related to metal processing operations, including industrial cleaning processes, wire straightening, and both inline and offline gauging systems used for shaped-wire metrology and measurement.
• Provide engineering assistance and technical guidance to departments outside of Engineering, including Procurement, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production.
• Assist with the implementation and utilization of SAS for IoT (Statistical Analysis System) technology to support process optimization, quality improvement efforts, and predictive maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
• Work closely with Maintenance personnel to methodically diagnose equipment failures and performance issues. Conduct root cause investigations and determine and implement effective corrective solutions to improve machine reliability and prevent recurring failures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering is required, along with a minimum of three years of manufacturing experience.
• Demonstrated understanding and practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and production operations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, methodologies, quality tools, and quality systems.
• Proficiency with computers, CAD, and other technical technologies used to accomplish engineering and manufacturing objectives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees and stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Strong customer-service mindset and the ability to establish productive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Willingness and demonstrated ability to acquire new knowledge and skills and apply that knowledge to increase operational efficiency and improve project quality.
• Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and methodologies.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction while also functioning effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changing manufacturing environment and exercise sound judgment when making timely decisions.
