Job description

What You'll Do

  • Be responsible for proficient, high-quality, cost-effective job routers. This is including accurate time estimations, machine selections, and detailed work instructions based on customer prints/models.
  • Review historical quotes for similar/exact parts and their variations, reviewing profitability for accurate quoting/routing practices.
  • Support project engineers by participating in project kick-off meetings as needed, ensuring technical support is provided to the team.
  • Assist the manufacturing team in resolving scheduling and priority conflicts at machining centers, communicating all changes to supporting personnel.
  • Assist CNC Programmers with tooling purchases for all released job routers, as necessary.
  • Review and ensure quote data is processed timely by customer due dates, allowing time for management review.
  • Create, document, develop, and implement continuous improvement procedures/initiatives to support successful growth within the manufacturing department.
  • Mentor and motivate a positive shop floor culture at all times.

What Makes You a Fit

  • You can translate a print into a router that's accurate, efficient, and easy for the floor to follow.
  • You're comfortable under pressure: quoting deadlines and schedule conflicts don't rattle you.
  • You're a self-starter who can operate independently, but you're just as effective pulling a team together.
  • You naturally mentor and motivate the people around you rather than just managing tasks.
  • You're detail-oriented enough to catch a profitability or estimation issue before it becomes a bigger problem.

What You'll Have

  • Direct influence over how work actually gets built — your routers set the standard the floor works from.
  • A skilled, experienced team of machinists and CNC programmers to work alongside.
  • Involvement across the full lifecycle of a job: quoting, routing, scheduling, and execution.

Requirements

  • Must be self-directed and able to deliver under pressure, meeting customer and management deadlines.
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter, comfortable operating independently and with a team.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to act professionally.
  • Experience in job shop/non-production environment including multiple set ups daily.
