Process Engineer II

Location: Hemlock, MI (Solar Manufacturing Plant)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite (100%)

Work Schedule: A Shift | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Monday – Friday

Interview Process: Two rounds (Phone or Teams)

Position Summary: The Process Engineer II will play a key role in supporting the startup, commissioning, and optimization of manufacturing equipment within a solar wafer production facility. This role requires hands‑on technical expertise to ensure smooth installation, debug, and ramp‑up of multiple production lines, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive operational excellence and equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands‑on engineering support for equipment installation, startup, and commissioning in a solar wafer manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Facilities, IT, and Operations, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Assist in setting up equipment, collecting data, and performing modifications to improve performance and product quality.
  • Analyze data to identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions to ensure process stability and yield improvement.
  • Support problem‑solving activities in manufacturing, including root cause identification and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Apply engineering principles and methods to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), job aids, and training documentation.
  • Ensure all work activities comply with safety standards and protocols.
  • Provide continuous improvement feedback to enhance equipment performance and product quality.
  • Occasionally support off‑shift or weekend work to meet project timelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering (strongly preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience (5+ years preferred) in a manufacturing or process engineering environment.
  • Proven experience with equipment installation, debug, startup, and troubleshooting in a production setting.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills with data‑driven approaches.
  • Effective technical leadership, organization, and planning skills, with the ability to manage shifting priorities.
  • Self‑motivated and capable of working both independently and in team environments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills; able to collaborate with diverse, cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a dynamic, fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in data analysis, visualization, and engineering documentation.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and compliance with all safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in solar, semiconductor, or high‑tech manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
