Job summary

Ford is seeking a diligent manufacturing engineer to advance safety, quality, and productivity in our global plants. You will apply engineering principles to improve processes, write and maintain process sheets, and drive continuous improvement across multiple product lines and programs.

The role requires collaboration with PD, STA, MP&L and other functions, CAD experience, and travel to US, Canada, and Mexico.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical) is required.
• 3+ years' Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• 3+ years' CAD experience and tooling knowledge.

In this position...

We're seeking a diligent, detail-driven professional to provide vital expertise in support of our manufacturing process engineering activities. We're looking to optimize our efforts in safety, quality, and productivity. This involves applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to advance continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and products.

What you'll do...

• Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program through Ok to Buy + 45 days.
• Implementation of new/modified tooling and facilities based on product and process changes.
• Lead manufacturing assembly builds (DCV, TT, PP, MP1 and MP2) in Canada, Mexico & US assembly plants.
• Identify and drive resolution of manufacturing related issues.
• Collaborate with multi-functional (PD, STA, MP&L, NMP, MTDC, etc.) activities.
• Write/modify/maintain process sheets as required post Final Design Judgement.
• Write tooling design/build/installation scopes of work.
• Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site. In addition, support tooling buy-off @ vendor facility.
• Drive quality, cost, and labor improvements
• Develop plant layouts and drive Cycle Line Layouts.
• Lead/Manage key areas of VME for the upfront feasibility process for programs between TMR and PSC phases of GPDS
• Prepare and lead management presentations through Ok to Buy.
• Support coordination of Program Cost Study responses and work with cross functional teams within the organization to ensure aligned results
• Support resolution of Major Architecture and High Investment Plant High Hurts to help mitigate Launch risks in Forward Model Development
• Document and present Lessons Learned to core to either create or update Mfg. standards
• Extended travel to assembly plants in US, Canada, and/or Mexico required

You’ll have...

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical)
• 3+ years' Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience
• 3+ years' experience w/tooling, processes, and facilities
• 3+ years' CAD experience

Even better, you may have...

• Solid understanding of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)
• Knowledge in one or more of the following Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, AIM, CPARS
• Experience in one or more of the following: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water test, End of Line
• Error proofing experience
• Demonstrated product launch experience and issue resolution capability
• Ability to work well with cross functional teams to develop consensus
• Proven experience in manufacturing, including CAD design and tooling design
• Previous project management experience
• Prototype design and development experience
• Experience working with Tier 1OEM Suppliers and partners
• Manufacturing experience in general or final assembly

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
