Job summary

Fujifilm Biotechnologies in North Carolina seeks an Automation Engineer to support implementation, troubleshooting and repair of DeltaV and ABB DCS systems for manufacturing. Qualifications

  • B.Sc. degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • 1–2+ years of engineering experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Familiarity with validated automation systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, troubleshoot, and repair DeltaV/ABB DCS systems to support manufacturing operations.
  • Review and revise user, functional, and process requirements for automation projects.
  • Troubleshoot code and functionality for validation and production systems in upstream and downstream processes.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 manufacturing support.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Instruments and Controls, Process Engineering, and CQV to develop robust automation solutions.
  • Contribute to Design Qualification and related testing activities.
  • Maintain adherence to defined procedures and validated states of automation systems.
  • Support other automation systems on site, including PLCs and BMS.

Job Description
What You'll Do:
  • Automation Engineer focusing on implementation, troubleshooting and repair of primarily DeltaV and ABB DCS systems to support operations.
  • Review and revise User, Functional, and Process Requirement Specifications for the Automation Systems being implemented
  • Troubleshoot DeltaV and ABB code and functionality for Validation and Production systems supporting Upstream and Downstream manufacturing processes
  • Participate in On-Call rotation supporting 24/7 Manufacturing Operations to troubleshoot and repair Automation issues.
  • Collaborate with FLBU Manufacturing, Instruments and Controls, Process Engineering, and CQV to develop robust Automation solutions.
  • Participate in quality activities like Design Qualification and test activities.
  • Work as per defined procedures and ensure a validated state for automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and support other Automation systems on site, such as standalone PLC systems, BMS, etc.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • B.Sc. degree minimum in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical, Automation, Controls, Computer, Chemical Engineering)
  • 1-2+ years experience in Engineering in the Pharmaceutical industry
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with DeltaV and/or ABB DCS preferred
  • Experience from the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry preferred
  • Knowledge of batch processes, GMP, GAMP and the S88 standard preferred
  • Ability to work with short timelines to meet project schedule and milestones
  • Ability to organize personal tasks
  • Have a quality mindset
  • Focus on keeping promises, meeting expectations and deadlines
  • Interest in taking part in team building and social activities in the workplace preferred
  • Courage to share 'close calls', mistakes and disaster on equal terms as 'big wins', major achievements and true heroics.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time (60 minutes)
  • Ability to conduct activities using repetitive motions that include wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to climb ladders or crawl under equipment
  • Ability to conduct work that includes moving objects up to 33lbs
