Role Profile

Position: Plant Manager - Manufacturing

Job Location: La Porte, TX (Leader Gasket)

Job Type: Full-Time

Status: Exempt

Summary of the Role

The Plant Manager - Manufacturing plans, schedules and supervises the activities of the assigned Operations team on a day-to-day basis (coordination requires important part of time) and provides expert knowledge for more complex issues, in line with department/functional guidelines and procedures, in order to contribute to efficient and customized operations. They are responsible for the daily operations of the manufacturing facility, promoter of safety and quality, and overseeing day to day operations and will accomplish manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results while ensuring the safety of all personnel working in or around department on all shifts. They are responsible for the facility and associates; which include the Warehouse/Manufacturing, Safety, Shipping and Receiving, VMI, Drivers and Counter Sales (if applicable) and collaborating with Quality. The overarching goal is to ensure OTD for the Fulfillment Center and to support the organization in obtaining its goals and objectives by operating in a cost-effective manner that leads to higher profits.

Responsibilities

  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures. Help create a safety culture and actively engage workforce in projects that will help reach our journey to zero incidents.
  • Deliver results by determining operational action requirements through review of financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data that measures productivity and goal achievement
  • Produce and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) capable of measuring process and team performance
  • Analyze and provide recommendations for cost improvement, inventory control, and pricing
  • Conduct action planning with area operations management to improve results
  • Distribute and manage company-wide and area specific initiatives related to pricing, sales and/or distribution of products
  • Contribute to company overall strategies and goals, succession planning, staff career path planning, policies and procedures
  • Constant and influential communication and planning with employees, customers, vendors and executive management
  • Support and help drive LGG Quality Management System and Best Practice
  • Manage equipment to ensure maintained in order to meet commitments
  • Coordinate jointly with the Area Vice President, District Managers and Service Centre Managers, the organization's financial and budget activities to fund operations
  • Reviewing margins and taking actions when necessary
  • Inventory control - jointly with Service Centre Managers and LGG Product Business Units; responsible to approve additions; recommend growth by category; manage Obsolete and Slow Moving Inventory
  • Training - Mentor and develop team through meetings, train new managers in KPIs and operations procedures
  • Labor recovery – expand revenue growth through added-value/billable process creation and change management of existing customer agreements
  • Facility management - Recommend locations for new facilities or oversee the remodeling of current facilities, investments, to increase efficiency.
  • Other duties deemed necessary by management.

Skills and Abilities

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills, professional telephone etiquette, and the ability to handle stressful situations in an efficient, professional and courteous manner.
  • Must have a sense of “team” response to satisfy sales goals and assure 100% customer satisfaction and the ability to interact effectively with all types of people.
  • Requires computer proficiency, including Internet, e-mail, the operating system, Word, Excel, and various other software as needed.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn about how our products are produced and used by our customers.
  • Must also have strong organization skills, be detailed oriented, possess problem-solving capabilities and have excellent customer service skills.
  • Key traits needed for success include, good sense of humor, compassion for people, excellent listening skills, ability to discipline and reward and the ability to continually prioritize the workload.
  • Requires ability to organize and prioritize workload and be able to interact effectively with all types of people in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • 5-7 years of warehousing or production experience in an industrial setting
  • College degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred; will consider equivalents
