Job summary

RTX Pratt & Whitney is seeking entry-level machinist helpers for weekend shifts on our Wells, Maine site. You will learn to set up and operate NC milling and grinding equipment to produce weldments and assemblies, under supervision, progressing through a three-week training and 4–8 weeks of on-the-job training.

This role offers a structured path to operator certification, with hands-on practice and collaboration with engineers and quality assurance to resolve machining challenges.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1+ years of manufacturing or related trade experience preferred.
• Ability to perform decimal/fraction calculations and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTCs to perform routine production operations on a variety of similar weldments and assemblies.
• Learn to work from operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS, and oral instruction to set up equipment for grinding, turning, facing, boring and/or chamfering operations involving a limited number of surfaces to be machined.
• Learn to verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
• Learn to maintain machines by performing required total preventive maintenance (TPM).
• Learn to work collaboratively with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel or others to resolve machining problems and assist in part process development.
• Work weekend shift Fri-Sun 6:00am-6:30pm and be paid for 40 hours.

What You Will Do

• his is a Weekend Shift , Friday -Sunday , 6:00am-6:30pm , Work 36 hours and get paid for 40 hours.
• This position is designed to give individuals with little or no machining or grinding background the skills they need to become a Certified Operator at Pratt & Whitney.
• Employees selected for this position will attend a 3-week training program and participate in 4-8 weeks of the on the job training.

The salary range for this role is $17.13- 30.10. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
