Job summary

Guardian Glass in Corsicana, TX is seeking motivated Manufacturing Operators to join a rotating 12-hour shift. You will operate and monitor automated float glass production lines, start up and shut down equipment, and ensure product quality while maintaining safety and production records.

The role offers a 12-hour rotating schedule including weekends and overtime, with a competitive starting pay of $20–$25 per hour and a $1,000 sign-on bonus. Prior industrial maintenance experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience navigating electrical schematics to troubleshoot equipment.
• Experience with 24 VDC to 480 VAC using DMM, Megger, and similar tools.
• Experience in programming Allen Bradley HMI, PLC logic, and Kinetix 5000.
• Experience in precision maintenance with laser alignment kits and torque wrenches.
• Experience troubleshooting motors, pumps, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor automated float glass production lines.
• Start up and shut down equipment; perform line changeovers and grade changes.
• Monitor temperatures, speeds, atmosphere, and level controls; adjust as needed.
• Inspect glass for defects; segregate nonconforming product and notify QA/engineering.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting; coordinate complex repairs.
• Execute daily reliability checks and report abnormal trends.
• Contribute to continuous improvement (Kaizen, SPC, OEE) to reduce downtime.
• Maintain shift logs, defect logs, and production counts.
• Follow safety policies; use PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Train and mentor junior operators; participate in handovers.

Manufacturing Operators are responsible for operating and troubleshooting equipment by supporting our production efficiency and allowing our facility to create quality glass that meets our customers’ needs.

What You Will Do

• Operate and monitor automated float glass production lines (glass melting, forming, annealing lehr, cutting, edging, washing, and packaging).
• Start up and shut down equipment per procedures; perform line changeovers and product grade changes.
• Monitor process parameters (temperatures, conveyor speeds, atmosphere, level controls) and adjust controls to maintain product specifications and stable throughput.
• Inspect glass for visual/functional defects and take immediate corrective actions; segregate nonconforming product and notify quality/engineering.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks and basic mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting; coordinate complex repairs with maintenance team.
• Execute equipment reliability activities (daily checks, lubrication, filter changes, alignment checks) and report abnormal trends.
• Follow and contribute to continuous improvement efforts (root cause analysis, Kaizen events, SPC, OEE improvement) to reduce downtime, scrap, and cycle time.
• Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and quality records (shift logs, defect logs, downtime reasons, production counts).
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory policies; use PPE and follow lockout/tagout, hot work, and confined-space procedures as required.
• Train and mentor junior operators; participate in shift handovers and cross-functional meetings.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience navigating through electrical schematics to troubleshoot issues with equipment.
• Experience in 24 VDC and up to 480 VAC using DMM, Megger, and other electronic testing equipment
• Experience in troubleshooting and installing electrical controls to include HMI, Allen Bradley HIM programming, PLC logic, Kinetix 5000 programming.
• Experience in Precision maintenance utilizing laser alignment kits, dial indicators, and torque wrenches.
• Experience in troubleshooting motors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
• 2 years or more of industrial maintenance experience

What Will Put You Ahead

• 2+ years experience in automated manufacturing or heavy process industries; experience in float glass or glass manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Certification or coursework in PLC programming, instrumentation, or industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with continuous process control systems, advanced diagnostics, or predictive maintenance tools.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, basic electrical and pneumatic systems, PID loop control, and common industrial sensors/instruments.
• Demonstrated ability to read process drawings, electrical schematics, and standard operating procedures.
