Job summary

Guardian Glass, a Guardian Industries company, seeks Manufacturing Operators in Corsicana, TX to operate and monitor automated float glass production lines. You will troubleshoot, start/stop equipment, and maintain production quality while ensuring safety and equipment reliability. The role involves a 12-hour rotating shift, including weekends and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience reading electrical schematics and troubleshooting equipment.
• Experience with 24 VDC to 480 VAC and electronic testing devices.
• Experience wiring/repairing controls including PLC/HMI.
• Proficiency with precision maintenance tools and alignment kits.
• Experience with motors, pumps, pneumatics and hydraulics.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor automated float glass lines to meet targets.
• Start up/shut down equipment and perform line changeovers.
• Adjust process parameters to meet specs and throughput.
• Inspect glass for defects and notify quality/engineering.
• Perform preventive maintenance and coordinate complex repairs.
• Conduct daily reliability checks and report trends.
• Document production, maintenance, and quality records.
• Follow safety policies and use PPE, LOTO, hot work rules.
• Train junior operators and participate in handovers.

Guardian Glass is looking for motivated Manufacturing Operators with a passion for safety to join our team in Corsicana, TX! Manufacturing Operators are responsible for operating, monitoring, and optimizing automated float glass manufacturing equipment and processes to meet production targets, ensure product quality, and maintain equipment reliability and safety. Works closely with maintenance, process engineering, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and document performance.

Rotating 12-hr shift to include weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Competitive pay starting at $20 - $25 per hour based on experience.

What You Will Do

• Operate and monitor automated float glass production lines (glass melting, forming, annealing lehr, cutting, edging, washing, and packaging).
• Start up and shut down equipment per procedures; perform line changeovers and product grade changes.
• Monitor process parameters (temperatures, conveyor speeds, atmosphere, level controls) and adjust controls to maintain product specifications and stable throughput.
• Inspect glass for visual/functional defects and take immediate corrective actions; segregate nonconforming product and notify quality/engineering.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks and basic mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting; coordinate complex repairs with maintenance team.
• Execute equipment reliability activities (daily checks, lubrication, filter changes, alignment checks) and report abnormal trends.
• Follow and contribute to continuous improvement efforts (root cause analysis, Kaizen events, SPC, OEE improvement) to reduce downtime, scrap, and cycle time.
• Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and quality records (shift logs, defect logs, downtime reasons, production counts).
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory policies; use PPE and follow lockout/tagout, hot work, and confined-space procedures as required.
• Train and mentor junior operators; participate in shift handovers and cross-functional meetings.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience navigating through electrical schematics to troubleshoot issues with equipment.
• Experience in 24 VDC and up to 480 VAC using DMM, Megger, and other electronic testing equipment
• Experience in troubleshooting and installing electrical controls to include HMI, Allen Bradley HIM programming, PLC logic, Kinetix 5000 programming.
• Experience in Precision maintenance utilizing laser alignment kits, dial indicators, and torque wrenches.
• Experience in troubleshooting motors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
• 2 years or more of industrial maintenance experience

What Will Put You Ahead

• 2+ years experience in automated manufacturing or heavy process industries; experience in float glass or glass manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Certification or coursework in PLC programming, instrumentation, or industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with continuous process control systems, advanced diagnostics, or predictive maintenance tools.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, basic electrical and pneumatic systems, PID loop control, and common industrial sensors/instruments.
• Demonstrated ability to read process drawings, electrical schematics, and standard operating procedures.
