Job summary

nVent is seeking a Manufacturing Operator in Solon, IA. You will set up, operate, and maintain progressive die press machines and related tooling to produce quality parts per blueprints. Strong focus on safety, accuracy, and efficient operation is required.

You will work with dies, forming equipment, and measurement tools, ensuring parts meet specifications while adhering to safety standards. Heavy lifting and operation of forklifts may be involved, with training provided as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates heavy-duty power equipment as specified by blueprints and templates.
  • Assist setup and operation of multiple automatic and/multi-slide equipment.
  • Read drawings, orders, routes, schedules and written or verbal instructions.
  • Check material size, type, identification, configuration and color.
  • Assist with set-up of dies, equipment, forming blocks and feeds.
  • Use basic measurement tools to ensure adherence to specifications.

As a Manufacturing Operator, you are responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining select progressive die press machines, auxiliary equipment, saws, assembly tables, specific automated machinery, specificCadweld/Flashweld/ brazing equipment and other miscellaneous manufacturing tooling to safely produce quality products of varying material according to blueprint specifications.nVentexpects you to adhere to all safe work procedures and to create parts up to thehighest ofquality standards.

Compensation: Up to $40.00/hr

WHATYOU WILLEXPERIENCEIN THIS POSITION:

  • Sets up andoperatesheavy-duty power equipment to bend, form, stretch and straighten a variety of products / materials such as plates, extrusions, structural shapes, etc. as specified by blueprints, layout, and templates.

  • Perform dutiesrequiredtoassistsetup andoperatemultipleautomatic and/or multi-slide equipmentperformsimultaneous processes for a variety of products.

  • Ability to understand and work from drawings, order / route sheets, schedules, written, and verbal instructions.

  • Check material for correct size, type, identification,configurationand color.

  • Assistwith set-up of dies,movableand stationary equipment, forming blocks,adjuststroke and feed as needed.

  • Competentusemicrometers, calipers, scales, tape measures,calculatorsand fixed gauges to check work in process and ensure adherence to specifications.

  • Move materials in the performance of duties usingpalletjack, lifttruckor crane (if PIT qualified) as necessary.

  • Install and check safety devices as needed for specific jobs.

  • Report faulty equipment, defective material and unusual conditions to supervisor or otherappropriate resources.

  • Observe and adhere to all prescribed safety rules and regulations andmaintainworkareaina neatand orderly condition.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed, which may require more than the normal shift hours or work week to meet company needs.

YOU HAVE:

  • Strong troubleshooting skillsnecessary, with the ability to make informed decisions.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes

  • Experience following work instructions or reading blueprints

  • Experience using hand and power tools

  • Prior experience working in a light industrial facility preferred

  • Heavy liftingrequired(up to 50lbs).

  • Lift truck operator experience recommended.
