Job summary

Kerry Group in Clark, NJ is seeking a Manufacturing Operator for the 2nd shift (Dry Blend). Location is onsite at 160 Terminal Ave, with shift from 2:30pm to 10:30pm and weekend work as needed.

Candidates should have at least 6 months in warehouse/manufacturing, ability to lift 55 lbs and operate warehousing equipment, and strong English skills. Responsibilities include accurate compounding, material handling, FIFO, labeling, and adherence to GMP and allergen procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience in warehouse/manufacturing environment.
• Able to lift up to 55 lbs. and push 450 lb. drums; stand for long periods.
• Read, write, and speak English.
• Follow GMP and sanitary procedures to prevent contamination.
• Experience in Flavor or related industry.
• Proficient in compounding techniques and raw materials.
• Proficient in using scales and compounding equipment.

Responsibilities

• Compound formulas accurately by weight and ingredients for each product.
• Apply knowledge of raw materials to mix and heat for quality.
• Use FIFO inventory rotation for materials.
• Operate pumps, mixers, scales, fork trucks, storage units, meters, and computers.
• Follow batch sheet instructions to ensure product quality.
• Label batches and submit to lab for evaluation.
• Follow 5S and GMP to maintain housekeeping and safety.
• Handle allergen products per control procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

About the role

Our Clark location is part of our Taste Division, producing flavors and ingredients. Our Clark facility is unique in the sense they have two buildings. The North building has a fruitier smell to it, the teams in that building are producing natural flavorings and essential oils. The South building is the complete opposite, it will have savoury and garlic smells because the team is producing seasonings for meat, chicken broth, and beef gravy.

Shift/Working Hours: 2:30pm-10:30pm

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Training will take place on a first shift or on off shifts. Must be available for weekend work as needed. *Shift subject to change*

Key responsibilities

1. Compound formulas accurately by weight and by ingredients and ensure that the best methodology is utilized based upon the particular product or mix.

2. Possess and apply working knowledge of all raw materials before use, i.e: mixing/heating to ensure quality and consistency in batches.

3. Utilize inventory lot rotation (FIFO) for all materials used.

4. Possess and apply working knowledge of all pumps, mixers, scales, fork trucks, high density storage units, meters, and computers.

5. Follow all manufacturing instructions on formula batch sheet using proper mixing techniques to ensure product quality.

6. Properly label all batches submitted to the lab for evaluation.

7. Follow all 5S and Good Manufacturing Practices to maintain good housekeeping and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental laws and regulations.

8. Proper handling of Allergen products and equipment according to Allergen Control Procedures

9. Other duties assigned by Management

Qualifications and skills

• Minimum 6 months experience in warehouse/manufacturing environment.


• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs., push up to a 450 lb. metal drum on a roller conveyor, and stand for prolonged periods.


• Read, write, speak the English language.


• Follow Proper housekeeping and sanitary GMP procedures to prevent product contamination; use clean tools and utensils and properly stored or hung to prevent product contamination.


• HS or equivalent experience


• Must have experience within the Flavor or a closely related industry.


• Must be proficient in compounding techniques and raw materials.


• Must be proficient in the use of scales and other compounding equipment

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and move up to 400 pounds. Must be able to operate forklifts and other equipment integral to the job functions. Must be able to see and distinguish between labels. Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk through the warehouse. Must be certified to wear a respirator and follow all rules regarding respirator wear.
