Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana is seeking a CMA Operator I in Sheridan, IN. The position runs Monday through Friday with a starting wage of $15 per hour and full benefits.

You will assemble, inspect, and package components according to written specifications and manufacturing instructions in a controlled environment. Responsibilities include reading technical documentation, setting up and operating machinery, quality checks with calipers/micrometers, and maintaining accurate production

This Monday‑Friday role starts at $15 per hour and offers full benefits. The Controlled Manufacturing Area (CMA) Operator I assembles, inspects, and packages components and devices according to written specifications and manufacturing instructions. Location: 6130 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46226.

Responsibilities
  • Follow written instructions to hand‑assemble and inspect manufacturing components and devices in a controlled environment.
  • Box, package, and label complete sets and products in the processing flow.
  • Set up, maintain, and operate machinery.
  • Handle tools such as razor blades, hole punchers, and tabletop grinders; may use a microscope or magnification during inspection.
  • Use test equipment (calipers, pin gauges, meter sticks, meter scales, micrometers) for product inspection.
  • Maintain accurate documentation reporting any quality problems or findings.
  • Work at different workstations following prescribed safety and quality requirements.
  • Adhere to the Quality Management System and its processes to meet ISO and/or other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform product tests to assess reliability and suitability.

  • Reading Technical Documentation – Read, interpret, and follow technical documentation outlining specifications and manufacturing instructions.
  • Manual Dexterity – Make coordinated hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects and handle tools to complete quality work.
  • Detail Oriented – Inspect assembled products with thoroughness and accuracy to identify quality problems or non‑conformances to specifications.
  • Deductive Reasoning – Think plausibly and make sound judgments when following written instructions, adhering to regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Operational Adaptability & Precision – Set up and maintain machinery, adjusting controls quickly and repeatedly to exact positions while remaining calm and receptive in fast‑paced situations.

  • Resourceful Innovator – Take initiative in growing knowledge in the production process to streamline efficiencies.
  • Test Run – Perform tests on products to assess reliability and suitability.
  • Knowledge of Quality Standards – Understand applicable national and international requirements, specifications, and guidelines to ensure products and processes are of good quality and fit for purpose.
Other Requirements
  • Physical Work – Able to spend >8 hours sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching; lift 50+ pounds; manage moderate/loud noise exposure.
  • Visual Acuity – Meet the screening requirement of 20/40 vision using both eyes, with or without correction.
  • Minimum age 18.
