Job summary

Hood Industries, Inc. in the United States seeks a Manufacturing Operations Supervisor for its Plywood mill in Beaumont. The role includes hands-on leadership, mentoring from management, and exposure across departments to develop strong operational knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree is a plus.
• 1–2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred (wood products).
• Knowledge of Internet, Excel, and Word.
• General knowledge of OSHA standards.
• Ability to work multiple shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Supervise operations within multiple departments and shifts at the highest practical efficiency. Develop production schedules, budgets, and coordinate material movement.
• Coordinate with other department supervisors to meet quality standards and product specifications.
• Ensure machinery, equipment and work areas are maintained; coordinate preventive maintenance and updates.
• Ensure work is carried out safely and in compliance with policies; participate in safety checks and investigations.
• Participate in new hire orientations, coaching, and training; reinforce company policies.
• Create operating reports (work hours, production levels, quality tests) and maintain required records in KRONOS, Guardian, and LumberTrax.

This position offers mentoring from various levels of management throughout the organization. Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood and lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fifteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise operations within multiple departments and shifts at thehighest practical efficiency. This includes working with employees andmanagement to develop production schedules, budgets, and to coordinate movement of material in and out of the work area. Resolve operating,scheduling, and production issues as needed.


• Work with other department supervisors to ensure operations meet quality standards andproductspecifications.


• Work with other department supervisors to ensure machinery, equipment, and work areas aremaintained properly. Work with maintenance to coordinate preventativemaintenance, expedite repairs, and schedule equipment updates, additions, and/or replacements.


• Work with other department supervisors to ensure work is carried out in a safe manner and that allareas are free of work hazards. Ensurethat company safety policies and practicesarefollowed by employees. Set personal example by observing all safe work practices andparticipate in safety checks, audits, and investigations.


• Participate in new hire orientations, employee training, ongoing coaching, andreinforcement to employees.Observe and apply all Hood human resources,safety, and related policies.


• Participate in creating required operating reports (e.g. work hours, productionlevels, quality testing, etc.). Participate in maintaining appropriate and requiredoperating, regulatory, and human resources records, includingattendance logsvia KRONOS, preventative and corrective maintenance via Guardian, and production reports via LumberTrax.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $80,000
