Job summary

Ottenweller Company, Inc. seeks a manufacturing supervisor to coordinate production activities, supervise staff, and drive continuous improvement in quality and delivery. You will collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Quality to ensure on-time production and efficient use of resources. A strong Lean background and strong leadership are essential.

The role reports to the Plant Manager and requires active involvement in 5S initiatives and staff development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and six to nine years metal fabrication experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education or experience are required.
• Working knowledge of punching, laser cutting, plasma-cutting, burning, forming, welding, machining, and painting.
• Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Computer literacy is required, may receive instruction on-the-job.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates activities of production employees directly or through Team-leaders.
• Performs discipline of staff as necessary by fully understanding and properly implementing company handbook policies re: attendance and categories of conduct.
• Performs coaching of staff by ensuring that there is a development plan for every person and that training is tracked.
• Evaluates performance of direct reports through 90-day and annual reviews; sets measurable goals.
• Creates development and cross-training plans for direct reports.
• Coordinates production with Sales, Engineering, and Quality to meet customer requirements and optimize throughput.
• Leads Lean Projects to eliminate wastes and improves safety, quality, delivery, and profitability.
