We are partnering with an advanced technology manufacturer seeking a Senior Manager or Director of Manufacturing Engineering to lead manufacturing execution for a highly complex, next-generation capital equipment platform transitioning from product development toward production.
This is a highly visible leadership position at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and product development. The organization is looking for a technically credible leader who can drive accountability, challenge assumptions, build alignment across functions, and help establish a more predictable and scalable manufacturing environment.
The level of the position can flex between Senior Manager and Director based on the experience and leadership capabilities of the selected candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a multidisciplinary team supporting manufacturing engineering, quality, technical execution, and program activities
- Partner closely with mechanical, electrical, systems, supply chain, and other engineering functions throughout product development and manufacturing readiness
- Serve as a strong operational voice during engineering discussions, identifying manufacturability risks and challenging designs or processes when necessary
- Drive the transition of complex equipment from development builds into a repeatable and reliable production environment
- Establish accountability and operating discipline across cross-functional teams while maintaining strong collaborative relationships
- Lead manufacturing readiness, system integration, test, quality, and production ramp activities
- Identify and resolve manufacturing constraints involving design, process, materials, quality, test, and supplier performance
- Drive continuous improvement in first-pass yield, cycle time, rework, labor efficiency, quality, and delivery performance
- Support concurrent engineering and Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFX) initiatives across complex mechanical and electrical systems
What We're Looking For
- Proven leadership experience within manufacturing engineering, manufacturing operations, NPI, or a closely related technical organization
- Strong engineering foundation with the technical credibility to work directly with design and product-development engineers
- Experience manufacturing complex equipment, machinery, electromechanical systems, or other highly engineered products
- Demonstrated success leading teams through product introduction, manufacturing readiness, production ramp, or significant operational improvement
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to make decisions, challenge the status quo, and hold teams accountable
- Ability to influence across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other functions without relying solely on organizational authority
- Experience with complex assembly, integration, test, and troubleshooting environments
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and manufacturing quality practices
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline strongly preferred
Preferred Background
Leadership Profile
The successful candidate will be more than a manufacturing administrator. We are looking for someone who can earn the respect of technical teams, recognize problems early, ask difficult questions, and create accountability around execution.
This person should be comfortable operating in a fast-moving product-development environment where engineering decisions, manufacturing readiness, quality, cost, and schedule are closely connected.
The ideal leader knows when to collaborate, when to challenge, and how to get cross-functional teams moving toward a common objective.
