Job summary

Armstrong World Industries (AWI) in Marietta, PA, is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Specialist to lead day-to-day manufacturing activities, drive safety, efficiency, and accuracy in the wet end area, and liaison between hourly workforce and salaried teams. This full-time role emphasizes SQDC metrics and continuous improvement across the value stream.

The role requires a strong Lean manufacturing background, 5+ years in manufacturing, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma plus 5+ years manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge and practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Proven ability to implement and audit systems to drive manufacturing results.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).

Responsibilities

• Make leadership decisions to ensure SQDC metrics at the dry end of the boardmill.
• Motivate and empower employees to promote cross-functional collaboration.
• Influence value stream priorities based on plant priorities.
• Coordinate maintenance for reliability of operations.
• Plan and prepare for weekly/monthly metrics.
• Utilize internal resources to complete tasks effectively.
• Identify and implement improvements and root-cause countermeasures.
• Oversee lockout/tagout procedures and 5S in the dry end.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
